We always pride ourselves
with our safe moves. However, we still recommend to all our
customers to look into the benefit of taking out a valuation
policy. The reasons are explained in the following
paragraph.
The minimum coverage required
by law (at no cost) is called limited liability. If an item
is lost or damaged, you would receive $.30 per pound, per
item. For instance, if our mover dropped a T.V. that you
bought for $500 and it weighed ten pounds, you would only
get $3.00 as compensation. This is the reason that we
recommend that our customer purchase a third-party insurance
policy.
The amount you collect in
case of damages is based on the actual value of the item at
the current replacement cost, but minus any depreciation, up
to the limit of coverage. (The charge is $5.00 for each
thousand dollars of coverage, with a minimum of $25 for
coverage up to $5,000.) If we broke that same T.V. and the
current market value was still $500, the claim would be
settled for $500; but if the repurchase price had
depreciated to $200, you will be able to collect $200 only.

You are legally given nine months to file a claim.
However, we recommend doing so as soon as you discover
you have damages.

Unlike most property
insurance, valuation does not automatically pay for any
damage. The responsibility of Avi Moving & Trucking,
Inc. must be established.

Items in boxes not packed
by Avi Moving & Trucking, Inc. are not covered, unless
the box was totally damaged.

Avi Moving & Trucking,
Inc. is not responsible for any electronic item that
does not function after the move, unless there is clear
evidence that the item was mishandled during the move.

If you realize that you
have damages before the completion of the move, you are
responsible to pay the full amount owed for the move.
Then you can go through the claims process to receive
money for damages.

Inc. will acknowledge your claim within 30 days and
offer a settlement within 120 days. It’s our policy to
solve all claims within 30 days.
