When you are
moving your home, you should get a company
that treats your assets and sentimental
items, as they would they’re own.
Avi Moving can provide you with the most
safe, reliable and satisfying move. Our
goal is to provide our clients with a less
stressful moving experience.
We always suggest that
before you call companies to get an estimate,
you should make sure of the following moving
tips:
- Always get a reliable
recommendation for all of the companies
that you will receive an estimate from.
- Get at least 4 estimates
before deciding which company you want
to move your valuables.
- Comparing the companies
you get the estimates from is always a
good idea.
- Expect that any estimate
you have obtained from moving companies
will be near to the range of the actual
moving costs.

Here
are a few common questions when moving:
>
What should you prepare and/or pack before
you move?
>
What should the movers not pack?
>
We often get the question, “What
am I paying for, for my move?
>
Do you need to check on your buildings
availability?
> Do
you need to reserve a moving date?

What
should you prepare and/or pack before you
move?
We suggest that before
you pack or prepare anything for your move,
you should make a list of all of the services
you need or may need the moving company
to do for you, including: items to be moved,
packing materials needed, items to be packed
and unpacked by the moving crew, any items
that may need to be disassembled and/or
reassembled by the moving crew and any other
special services or handling such as, pianos,
antiques, light fixtures, appliances, crating
service, etc………….
If you do not request
for the moving company to pack and prepare
your items for you, here are a few helpful
tips to follow:
- You should always
use high-quality packing boxes designed
especially for the job, not “grocery
store” cartons. You can
order packing supplies and boxes directly
from our location.
- Packing books &
other heavy objects in smaller boxes for
easier lifting. And pack the large boxes
with lightweight/bulky items.
- If you need to pack
your clothes, you should always use wardrobe
boxes so you can hang your garments.
- Try to always use
the same size boxes for easy stacking
on the moving truck.
- Make sure that you
fill the boxes completely. By stuffing
the open areas with packing paper, it
prevents the boxes from collapsing when
stacked. Try not to pack your fragile
items to too tightly inside the box, this
will prevent breakage as well.
- And always seal the
boxes completely with packing tape to
prevent anything from getting in or out.
Tape both the bottom and the top of the
boxes, so all open spaces are covered.
- You can mark your
boxes with what is inside and what room
it is going to make the move quicker and
easier for both yourself and the moving
crew. You can put: Where its going to?
How fragile the items are? When will you
need it? What area of the home it is going
to? And so on.
- Always wrap small
and/or fragile items individually. This
prevents anything from getting damaged
or any loss whatsoever.
- Always make sure
that the items or boxes that you will
need the most are available to you, for
as long as you need them and whenever
you need them once you arrive at your
new home. Remember, the last boxes to
be loaded onto the truck are usually the
first boxes to be taken off the truck.
- Making an inventory
list of your items is always helpful.
This is easy to do and it helps both you
and the moving crew to identify things
better.
- And whenever possible,
it is best to re-pack some items using
their original boxes and packing materials.
This is helpful for electronics and other
items like this.

What
should the movers not pack?
There are always items
that are more valuable than others. You
should put special detail to these things.
Even if you are moving across the street,
there are things that should never be moved
by any moving company. If you really think
about it is very simple to figure out what
items shouldn’t be moved by the moving
company. For a little help, here are a few:1
- Money, securities,
valuable papers and jewelry are the most
important thing’s that you the customer
should take and pack on your own. Therefore,
the packing of these items are at your
own risk and the movers are rest assured
that these items are safe in your hands.
- Any flammable items
such as, aerosol cans, paints, gasoline,
oils, etc. should not be packed by the
movers.

We
often get the question, “What am I
paying for, for my move?”
Basically, there are
4 major parts of the move for which you
will be paying for and 1 option of additional
payment for insurance. Below are these things
and they’re descriptions:
-
Labor - This is the hourly rate,
per each mover on your moving crew.
- Truck(s)
- This is the cost, per each
hour for the use of the truck or trucks
on your move.
- Travel Time
- This is the cost of the time
it takes, in total, to drive to your current
address, to your new address and back
to the moving companies main facility.
- Materials
- This is the costs of packing
materials and other purposeful materials
that are used on the day of the move or
delivered prior to the move.
- *Valuation
- Automatically, we cover all
of our clients moves with insurance of
$.30 or $.60 (depending on your state
of origin) per pound per article being
moved. This valuation option is if you
would like to take out more insurance,
than what we automatically give the client,
for an “additional valuation fee”.
This insurance/valuation covers your belongings
in case of any harm or any occurance to
your items while moving. (Explained in
the “moving section” of the
website)

Do
you need to check on your buildings availability?
Very often buildings
need a notice that you will be vacating
the premises. If you live in an elevator
building where there is a lot of traffic,
you might need to reserve an elevator time
for your move day. You also might need something
called a “Certificate of Insurance”.
A “Certificate
of Insurance” is something that your
building or your buildings management company
requires from the moving company to allow
the moving company to move the client in
or out of they’re homes. You can simply
contact your building management, superintendent
or concierge and find out if this is needed.
If, so, all you have to do is contact us,
with the name of the building management
contact along with their phone number and
we will take care of everything!
Certificate
of Insurance Request
Please fax your Certificate Requests to
our offices fax number, which is (718) 361-2193,
and our representatives will take care everything
for you. Please remember to put your name,
phone number and the date of your move on
the fax so we can identify where the request
is coming from.

Do
you need to reserve a moving date?
At Avi Moving, we know
how difficult it is to choose a mover. We
want our clients to know that the move we
provide them is going to be as easy and
stress-free as possible. This is why reserving
a moving date with the moving company as
soon as possible is a benefit. This allows
you time to prepare other things that may
need to be taken care of such as, transporting
your animals and plants, or other valued
items. Come moving day, you will be very
happy that you reserved your move ahead
of time allowing this extra time.
If the date that you
reserved needs to be changed to an earlier
or later date, you should always contact
the moving company at least 1-2 weeks prior
to the date change. This allows yourself
and the moving company time to prepare for
your move and to also make sure that the
day you want to move will be available to
you. You should also confirm the moving
date, if changed, with your building (if
required) prior to the move. When the moving
date approaches, you should contact the
moving company and confirm the date, time
and all details necessary for your move.
You should do this at least 1-3 days before
your moving date. Once your move is complete,
you can start unpacking and getting adjusted
to your new home. We hope nothing but the
best of luck for you and your family in
your new home!
If you choose to move
with Avi Moving & Storage, Inc. we are
confident that our moving professionals
and our exceptional moving estimators will
do their best to ensure you a trouble-free
move.
Please
send us a testimonial or recommendation
letter via email or regular postal service
describing your experience. We hope we will
